Real-Time Rendering

A collection of real-time projects.
The surface geology used in MarsFlight is represented by twenty-two high-resolution images selected from the Mars Rover imagery data. Each exemplar image was used to synthesize a heterogeneous mipmapped texture that is tiled over the terrain geometry. The heterogeneity ofthe mipmap exploits isotropic mipmapping to reduce periodic patterns in the far frame -- a common problem in tile-based terrain rendering. The result is a detailed, high-quality, real-time terrain visualization of the Martian landscape. (circa 2003)
MarsFlight screen shot. (circa 2003)
Screen shot of a real-time missile defense Monte Carlo simulation. (circa 2007)
Multi-beam sonar visualization tool, ingesting sonar data to produce a bathymetry track in real-time. (circa 2000)
A screen shot of the real-time automated meteorological profiling system (RTAMPS) analysis tool. (circa 1998)
MPI-based parallel rigid body simulation prototype. (circa 2004)
MarsFlight promotional video. MarsFlight is an interactive simulation of a remotely controlled plane flying over Mars with an emphasis on physically accurate flight dynamics and authentic representation of the Martian terrain and surface geology. The Mars terrain was developed using actual data obtained from the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter (MOLA). (circa 2003)
